Alexandra Tchernakova is a pianist and musical collaborator known internationally for her elegant blend of classical and contemporary repertoire, with a focus on working with living composers. Her artistry combines technical precision, expressive nuance, and a fearless approach to new music, making her a sought-after partner for singers, instrumentalists, and ensembles alike.
Her versatility and sensitivity has earned her invitations to Europe’s leading venues and festivals, including La Biennale di Venezia 2024, Superperspectives Festival in Lyon, Torino Jazz Festival, Piano City Milano, the Fragments: The Wasteland Festival, and St. George’s Bristol. A core member of the Gavin Bryars Ensemble, she has performed with Opera North, Café Oto, and collaborated with Omar Mancini, Riccardo Zanellato, Juliana Grigoryan, John Potter, Leonardo Cremona, and the Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman.
Alongside her chamber work, Alexandra performs in a duo with saxophonist Manuel Teles. Their debut album, recorded at the Steingraeber piano house, will be released on 14th November 2025 with GB Records showcasing cross-genre contemporary works by composers such as G. Bryars, F. Say and C. Corea.
Her training includes studies at Moscow’s Gnesin Academy of Music with V. Ochinnikov, T. Rusanova, I. Silivanova, and V. Petrova, a Master’s in Contemporary Chamber Music at Milan’s Conservatorio Verdi with Daniela Uccello, and a postgraduate chamber course at the Accademia Internazionale di Imola under Nazzareno Carusi and Marco Zuccarini. She has also participated in masterclasses with Natalia Trull, Andrea Turini, Natalia Gutman and Giampaolo Nuti. From her earliest studies at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and the Junior Royal Academy of Music in London to winning Nottingham Young Pianist of the Year in 2009, Alexandra has demonstrated precocious talent and dedication. She also holds a degree in French and Italian from the University of Bristol (UK) where she was a Vice-chancellor Music Scholar, enriching her collaborations across musical and linguistic traditions.
Currently refining her artistry under the guidance of Vsevolod Dvorkin, Alexandra continues to develop innovative projects that affirm her status as a bold, sensitive, and adventurous interpreter of both established and contemporary repertoire.
